Midterm Format

2 word problems worth 25 point each and 10 Multiple Choice problems worth 5 points each

Word problems are graded with 10 points awarded for the identification of physics principle being used, 10 points for the application of that principle, and 5 points for the correct answer.

An Equation sheet is given on the exam and includes

  1. cartesian, polar, and spherical coordinate systems with position, velocity , and acceleration vectors
  2. List of identities (trigonometric, integrals,…)
  3. Table with the Moments of Inertia

Final Exam Format

4 word problems worth 25 point each and 20 Multiple Choice problems worth 5 points each

Word problems are graded with 10 points awarded for the identification of physics principle being used, 10 points for the application of that principle, and 5 points for the correct answer.

2 word problems will require using a Lagrangian to determine the equations of motion 1 word problem will involved a Rotating coordinate system or a Rigid Body 1 word problem will involve oscillations, air resistance, conservation of E or P

An Equation sheet is given on the exam and includes

  1. cartesian, polar, and spherical coordinate systems with position, velocity , and acceleration vectors
  2. List of identities (trigonometric, integrals,…)
  3. Table with the Moments of Inertia
