:Before

I am writing to request a support letter of a very unusual kind, the one given to US immigration officials in support of my application to US permanent residency (also known as a green card).

I wish to stress that in many ways the letter is different from the ordinary job letter, as it is intended for USCIS (=US Citizenship and Immigration Services) officers. Needless to say, this is very important for me, and I would greatly appreciate if you kindly agree to write the letter. There is no deadline, but I would be happy if you could finish writing by May 10th. If  for any reason you are unable to write the letter, would you please let me know promptly. If you'd like a draft, please let me know I would be happy to provide it for you.

My CV, abstracts of papers, and description of main accomplishments are attached.

Feel free to contact me for any additional information.
