Required network connection settings for Windows 7 & Windows 7 Activation

Required Network Settings when installing/configuring Windows 7 Be sure to configure these settings before attempting to activate Windows 7, otherwise it will fail Created by: Ashley Knowles-Swingle Creation Date: Wednesday, March 31, 2010 Start

• Control Panel
  • Network and Sharing Center
    • In the left pane of the window, Choose “Change Adapter Settings”
      • Right Click on the Network Connection (Wireless of LAN), choose Properties
        • When the Properties come up, select “Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv6)
• Click properties
  • Click on the “General” Tab
    • At the bottom of the screen, select the “Use the Following DNS Server Addresses” Radio Button
      • In “Preferred DNS Server”, enter: 134.50.254.5
      • In the “Alternate DNS Server”, enter 134.50.57.57
• After entering the DNS addresses, click on the Advanced Tab at the bottom of the window
  • Now you’re in the “Advanced TCP/IP Settings” Window
    • Click on the DNS Tab
      • In the box labeled “DNS Server Addresses, in order of use” enter the following two IP Addresses:
        • 134.50.254.5
        • 134.50.57.57
• Half way down the window, select the radio button labeled “Append these DNS suffixes (in order)”:
  • Inside this box enter the following DNS:
    • Isu.edu
      • Below that be sure to select(check) the “Register this connection’s addresses in DNS” check box
        • Be sure to unselect(uncheck) the “Use this connection’s DNS suffic in DNS registration” checkbox
• At the top of the window, click on the “WINS” tab
  • Inside the box labeled “WINS addresses, in order of use” add the following two addresses:
    • 134.50.250.43
    • 134.50.205.125
      • Click OK
        • Now try to activate!
