June 15,2007 Cf-252 measurements with HpGe & neutron sensitive scintillators in coincidence
Experimenters: Doug Wells, Mark Mitchell, Tamuna, Oleksiy
Apparatus: File:Setup-6-15-07.jpg
Data Runs:
1. Paraffin layer of thickness 2x6.3 cm was used as neutron attenuator.
The ungated spectrum of gamma-rays emitted by Cf-252 source is presented in Fig. 1.1.
Spectrum of gamma-rays emitted by Cf-252 source gated by the signal from plastic scintillator BC-420 is shown in Fig. 1.2.
Spectrum of time intervals between signals coming from germanium detector and fast plastic scintillator is represented in Fig. 1.3. Ge-detector signal served as "start" signal.
Total spectrum of Cf-252 obtained using BC-420 plastic scintillator and HAMAMATSU photomultiplier tube.
2. Polyethelen doped with boron of thickness of 2x5 cm was used for neutron shielding.
The ungated spectrum of gamma-rays from Cf-252 source obtained using HpGe detector is shown in Fig. 2.1.
Spectrum of gamma-rays gated by the signal from plastic scintillator BC-420 is presented in Fig. 2.2.
TAC spectrum for time intervals between signals from HpGe detector and fast plastic scintillator one can find in Fig. 2.3.
Neutron energy spectrum from Cf-252 source obtained via fast plastic scintillator can be seen in Fig. 2.4.
