7/16/12

Low temperature alarm was sounding upon arrival this morning. The temperature monitoring record shows a drop in temperature over the weekend that seems to coincide with a dramatic increase in humidity (Pocatello is currently experiencing uncharacteristically high humidity associated with rain and thunder showers). The temperature set point was increased to 69 degrees (per discussion with Dr. Forest). Stringing operations were haulted until temperatures began to stabilize. Temperatures declined again and the temperature set point was increased to 70 degrees. Temperatures seem to be holding between 68 and 69 degrees now.

After approximately 14:00, the humidity levels were above 55%. The humidity set point was lowered to 45% (per discussion with Dr. Forest). The humidity level immediately dropped and has not increased since the change.

While stringing operations were haulted, a clean was conducted in the cleanroom. After cleaning, particles were measured and were within specifications (0.5um = 11,700 particles per square meter and 5.0um = 1,650 particles per square meter).

Strung 56 Field wires on Sector 5 (now on SL2 - row 154). Removed C5 pretensioner at row 154.

Strung 48 Sense wires on Sector 6 (now on SL2 - row 62).

7/17/12

Temperatures are fluctuating between 68 and 69 degrees F.

Strung 91 Field wires on Sector 5 (now on SL2 - row 168).

Strung 36 Sense wires on Sector 6 (now on SL2 - row 74).

7/18/12

Cleanroom temperatures were above 72 ° F this morning. The increase in temperature appears to coincide with a dramatic decrease in humidity from above 50% to below 30%. (Pocatello is experiencing higher temperatures with little humidity.) The temperature setpoint on the HVAC was lowered to 68 °. Stringing operations were haulted briefly until temperatures decreased and stabilized around 71 °. At 10:00am the temperature setpoint was lowered to 67 °. Temperatures have decreased and stabilized between 69 ° and 70 °. (Screen shots of the temperature and humidity graphs were uploaded to the wiki.)

Strung 56 Field wires on Sector 5 (now on SL2 - row 175). Removed R5 pretensioner at row 172.

Strung 42 Sense wires on Sector 6 (now on SL2 - row 88).

7/19/12

Cleanroom temperatures are stable between 68 ° and 69 °.

There was a power bump this morning just before 10am that turned off all equipment and HVAC systems for a few seconds. Everything came back on and we have had no problems today.

Strung 63 Field wires Sector 5 (now on SL2 - 185).

Strung 21 Sense wires on Sector 6 (now on SL2 - row 95).

Completed Tension Trend Tests for both Sector 5 and Sector 6 chambers.

Interviewed two candidates for the available stringer position.

7/23/12

Cleanroom temperatures are stable between 68 ° and 70 °.

Strung 84 Field wires Sector 5 (now on SL2 - 197). Removed pretensioner C6 at row 190.

Strung 39 Sense wires on Sector 6 (now on SL2 - row 108).

7/24/12

wires strung

At 07:30, HVAC alarm sounding, cleanroom temps were above 72° F. HVAC temperature set point was lowered to 68°. Humidity averaged approximately 45% today. Temperatures have stabilized between 69° and 70°.

Strung 92 Field wires on Sector 5 (now on SL2 - row 210). Removed pretensioner R6 at row 205.

Strung 75 Sense wires on Sector 6 (now on SL2 - row 133).

Signal board install test

The Signal board sent to ISU from JLab appears to only fit on SL1. The mounting holes do not lineup for SL2.

The preamplifiers (SIPS) are rather close ( within millimeters) to the mylar window frame. The signal output cables also venture into the drift chamber acceptance unless we use 90 degree angle connectors.

6 VME powered signal post-amps

54 HV boards were also shipped

We have two HV connector boards but only 1 HV "octopus"

Shall we start setting up to measure SL1 wire efficiencies based on neighboring wires?

7/25/12

Strung 30 Sense wires on Sector 6 (now on SL2 - row 143).

Temperatures seem to have stabilized. Will continue to monitor as local weather conditions change.

7/26/12

Strung 35 Field wires on Sector 5 (now finished with SL2).
