A snow board/snow shoe hike near Oxford peak on Jan 30,2011.  We started out at 10 am and followed the snow machine tracks.  We returned about 6 pm.  I would need 2 more hours to be sure of a summit. The snow was powder with a crunchy top layer.  Powder did exist after about 6500 ft.  Leaning back on the snow board seemed to keep the tip up and cut through the crunchy layer.  if the tip dipped down too far it was sucked into the snow resulting in a face plant.
