To determine the average dose per pulse of the 25b linac at the Idaho Accelerator Center, Nanodot Optically Stimulated Luminescence Dosimeters (OSLs) are employed. The Nanodot OSLs are 1cm +/- by 1cm +/- ABS plastic squares that shield a carbon doped aluminum oxide crystal. The average diameter of the crystal is 0.501cm +/- with an average thickness of ____cm+/-___ which yields an average volume of ___+/-(propagated error from DIAMETER and thickness).
-> Open and closed image of nanodot OSL
Each OSL is tagged with a unique serial number, which is used to attach a set of coordinates to help with data analysis in experiments. Having the position of each OSL logged during experiments yields off axis dose information as well as reconstruction of radiation field intensity as a function of position.
-> put image for photon array here
To clear the OSLs, each was subject to a typical "happy light." Each OSL was read prior to use which allows for background subtracted doses and PMT Counts to be used in the calibration and experimental setting.
-> do study on OSL clearing time
-> look into mechanism for dose absorption
