The samples were acquired from the city of Khotan in western China. Khotan (Hotan) jade, known as 和田玉(HeTianYu) in Chinese and "خوتەن قاشتېشى" in Turkik Uyghur, is regarded as the most premium jade type in China. Jade has special meanings and importance due to Chinese culture. Khotan jade was used in Olympic medals in 2008 Beijing Olympic Game. It is hard to differentiate fake jades from real ones. Hopefully this study can give us some scientific basis on the elemental concentration of different samples.
