Use the Silk milk carton for the body of the car
attach the dowel rods to the carton using washers
cut the PVC pipe to 2 foot lengths, use and elbow to connect 2 at 90 degrees
a plastic bag filled with beans can be used as a plunger to push the air out of the PVC pip
you need to fit something into one end of the pipe in order to increase the air flow for thrust. Use grey tape to attach a straw tube into one end
wheels may be a problem, perhaps we can use skids
Materials list
Springs, Elastic hair bands, PVC pipes, Mylar Baloon, dowel rods, paper or plastic cups, no styrofoam, washers ?(metal or plastic)clothespins, adhesive tape, aluminum foil, spool of thread, with or without thread, bottle caps,
dried beans or peas in plastic container, this could be the plunger for the air tube.
Version 1
The air pressure engine is too heavy and fails to propel the car below.
The current car without the air pressure stack is shown below (click the picture to enlarge it)
The next step will be to try a catapult engine. This will use a spring to throw a heavy mass off the car. Conservation of momentum (recoil) will propel the car in the opposite direction.
Version 2
A catapult engine was built in place of the PVC pipe engine. The video below shows how the car moves. Probably no distance record.
