This letter of is being sent to support DRS application for the Tenure-track materials science posiiton at Western Washingtons University's Advanced Materials Sciences & Engineering Center. I have known and worked with DRS for more than 3 years at Idaho State University and the Idaho Accelerator Center. She was originally a visiting professor as ISU teaching both graduate and undergraduate courses. She is now in a research position at the Idaho Accelerator Center with some graduate

teaching duties within the department of phsyics.

I have had the opportunity to observe DRS colloquia and I have spoken

with some of her students about her teaching effectiveness.

I found her colloquia to be well organized and her oration easily comprehensible with little indication of english being her second language. The students I haven spoken to have been very positive regarding her ability to explain difficult concepts and the ease at which the are able to receive outside help. I believe, based on my discussions with theses students, that she covers the full breadth of the material with high expectations that her students understand.

The most impressive quality that DRS has shown this department is her ability to pursue research. Although her Ph. D. worked involved modeling heme proteins, she has become very active researching nano-particles. Specifically she is exploring nano-particle separation techniques to purify materials.
