-The community of physics scholars at Idaho State University envisions a department of physics that is commensurate with our peer institutions yet distinguishes itself with a physics program that supplements traditional fundamental physics training with a concentration in nuclear physics. -The Physics faculty at Idaho State University envision a program of physics that supplements traditional fundamental physics training with a concentration in nuclear physics. We plan to pursue this concentration by first restoring and then expanding our program's expertise and its use of local facilities. Currently, student needs at all levels of the education process are being fulfilled using research programs exploring fundamental nuclear physics as well as its applications through experimentation. Unfortunately, physics faculty are being over utilized preventing degree production growth.  In order to reflect our peer institutions, we find it necessary to restore our faculty ranks from our current level of six faculty to at least ten faculty. As part of this restoration, the faculty sought will involve local research facilities in their area of research. Our aspirations will also serve our vision of to have fully qualified educators in every physics classroom.
